Team-building Strategies

A key strategy of creating an organizational change plan with the guiding coalition is one

built on transparency, honesty, communication, and full participation. Keeping the team actively

engaged will help build a well-functioning team (European Union News, n.d.). All members

should be empowered and encouraged to participate. Ensuring they are appropriately informed

and staying transparent of the ongoing changes within the organization and the roles and

responsibilities of each of the members of the guiding coalition will be vital. A careful plan of

vision and objectives must be laid out initially with input and alignment with the guiding

coalition.

An understanding and commitment will need to be established within the guiding

coalition that this team should be built in and balanced with their regular workload. Creating the

change through their day-to-day actions can help as an initial step ease the employees affected

and provide a comfortable space to ask questions of the key guiding coalition members who can

assist with clarifying the vision and objectives (European Union News, n.d.).

Participation in regular off-site team building activities will also be an effective way to

coordinate team efforts and keeping the group focused (Tanner, 2021). These activities will

create a bond with the guiding coalition to effectively work together which will ultimately extend

out to the employees in the organization.

Keeping it simple and authentic will keep the credibility of the guiding coalition

(European Union News, n.d.). Their role is to lead the organization through an organizational

transformation through their expertise and influence with others. Simplicity in vision, objectives,

and messages will decrease the possibility of disorder and confusion. It will help keep the

guiding coalition flexible and adaptable throughout the time when insights may need to be

brought back to leadership for consideration (Tighe, 2021).
