Antecedent Behavior Consequence Mike given a worksheet to Mike banged head on desk Mike was physically guided away complete at early intervention from desk by teacher program Mom handed Mike a plate of food Mike banged fists on table Mom rushes to Mike, holds his for lunch hands in hers, scolds him on the behavior; Mike stops banging fists Mom told Mike it was time for bed Mike banged fists into walls and Grandma walked and laid in bed tables with Mike until he fell asleep ABC recording is data taken by the observer, in this case the BCBA that takes a descriptive account of problem behaviors with the antecedent conditions, behaviors, and consequences that occur in the natural environment (Conner et al 2010) This is beneficial to Mike because noMorn told Mikc it was time for bed Mike banged fists into walls and Grandma walked and laid in bed tables with Mike until he fell asleep ABC recording is data taken by the observer. in this case the BCBA that takes a descriptive account of problem behaviors with the antecedent conditions, behavio and consequences that occur in the natural environment ( Cooper et al., 2019). This is benecial to Mike because no direct manipulations are being conducted that could trigger the problem behavior. The observer is able to gather data on what could be potential environment causes to problem behavior and will be able to design interventions based on this data. It is important to consider the effects that. an observer can have on a client, and be aware that an observer may create more or less problem behaviors that the client exhibits. ABC data will be collected by the BC BA. and not by the mother or grandmother to help provide accurate information. By having correct ABC. data it can help create an accurate intervention or FA that will not cause unnecessary trial and error for Mike. This is an ethical concern, since incorrect data could cause a FA that is not manipulating variables for the correct function of behavior if it is based on ABC data. Hypothesized Function
