The type of methodology l have witnessed was Social Services. Social Services is dened as a social worker who cand provide counseling, information for family planning, public service information and advice'on - education (Graham, p. 14). Working in the Department of Social Services, I worked with a unit called Family Preservation or Treatment program. Family Preservation's' main goal was to keep families together and help nd resources to help build a strong family foundation, while also striving to meet the basic need of a family. The Family Preservation case worker would provide the families with the information and tools needed to reach a specic goal the family is trying to obtain. For example, a client needed checking into a substance abuse program. however she did not have the means or the know how to get into the program. The case worker counseled her client on what it meant for her family and what it would mean for her. She allowed her client to speak about some personal fears and together they came up with a plan to commit and reach a desired goal. The case worker let her client know she was there to support her in taking the steps and ' encouraged her with a Treatment plan to follow through. The client felt supported, and the case worker aided the'client in reaching-potential goals in a healthy and safe manner. Family preservation workers will also conduct home visits at the home of the client if the family needs the services. I would support the Social Services type of method because in many cases people do not know what programs are available, where to go to get the help or the steps needed to meet the goals they're trying to achieve for their family. Through Family Preservation counseling, clients are assisted with the tools to problem solve and adapt in any situation, which is what is provided through the Social Service methodology. _ . , 1; \"new\"- ,mwmawwm , '5. .i' 'Ni
