Impact of technology There are many ways in which technology has impacted medical care in the United States. There are both positive and negative impacts of technology. One positive impact of technology is that it has made dispensing medical care easier. For example, before the advent of technology, medical files were lost due to human error (Spekowius & Wendler, 2006). Technology has almost eliminated this problem. Storing patient files in data bases ensures convenience and safety for the patients. Another impact of technology is that is has eased medical procedures. This is especially the case when it comes to surgeries especially when minimally invasive procedures. Technology has ensured patient safety by ensuing that minor surgical procedures are minimally invasive. Detrimental effects of technology With search engines being part of the everyday world, it present an additional risk when it comes to health care. It is easier for individuals to make self diagnosis based on content they find on the internet. This is dangerous because in often times, the diagnosis is wrong and the patients end up endangering their lives. Another danger of technology is that it exposes to danger in some cases. This is especially the case when it comes to X-ray machines and other equipment that utilize radiation. Medical Technology 3 While these equipment can be useful in some cases, it can expose the patient or the doctor to risks such as cancer. Technology applications in health care business In the medical care business, technology is applied to facilitate communication. Communication between the doctors and the patients is of vital importance to the health of the patient. Technology has provided convenient means of communication between practitioners and doctors and between the doctors themselves (Zielinski, Duplaga & Ingram, 2006). Technology can be applied to the health care business for better treatment of patients. Equipment such as MRI machines, centrifuges and x ray machines ensure that the patient is treated very thoroughly (Spekowius & Wendler, 2006). Business principles for the Health care organization There are several business principles that must be adopted by a healthcare organization if it is to succeed. The first is exceeding customer expectations. This will ensure that the organization has a loyal customer base. The second business principle is pursuing excellence in any given endeavor. Finally, team work is another business principle that is especially applicable in a health care organization. The relation between the staff and the patients will determine the success of the business. Medical Technology 4 References Spekowius, G., & Wendler, T. (2006). Advances in healthcare technology.
