Need to respond to the discussion below.
In your response to at least two peers, discuss actions and consequences that should be taken in response to a violation of their selected principle. Use the following questions to help guide your responses:
- What actions or strategies could you or others take to remediate the ethical issues?
- What are some repercussions of not abiding by your peer's selected principle from a legal, business, or general professional perspective?
For my discussion this week, I chose the principle, integrity. To me, this principle means that someone is honest and always wants to do the right thing regardless of the outcomes. They want to reflect ethical standards and want to do the right thing in every situation. In the document, it briefly states that a person must be honest and candid and should never take advantage of anyone or anything. This is kind of similar to what I said in the beginning. Having integrity as a practitioner or business can really help in the long run. Making sure that your customers are always being taken care of and are never being taken advantage of shows that you really care. Also, if a business didn't have this value, there could be many other businesses that your customers could go. This would then lead to a business losing a ton of revenue or even going bankrupt.
For example, let's say that accountant number one always records the revenue in the general ledger at the end of each month. Account number two is the one who always checks this so that there are no errors and makes sure that everything is correct. Accountant number two realizes that there has been a mistake and the numbers aren't adding up. They then see that there is a check written out to accountant number one sitting on his desk. It's from the company but they usually get paid through direct deposit. Accountant number two realizes that accountant number one stole money. However, they don't know what to do because they are best friends. The ethical thing to do would to be honest with their boss and tell them what's happening. They might not however because it could ruin their friendship.
