No one topic has garnered more news headlines in the past several years than the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), also known as Obamacare. Unfortunately the news coverage has been biased and the true aspects of the law, which began in 2010, have been diminished in favor of political rhetoric. Prior to implementation of PPACA, there were over 50 million Americans that did not have health insurance. If youve never had employer-sponsored health insurance (e.g., private, government, military), the affordability and coverages varied greatly from company to company, with many rejecting an individual for a multitude of reasons (for example if someone is born with a disability or health condition).
