Note: Clearly mention any assumptions you make. Explain how the physical properties were obtained. Scan and submit clearly written answerscripts 1. 1000kg/h of benzene is cooled from 75C to 50C in a double pipe heat exchanger. The coolant water enters at 30C and leaves at 40C. The inner tube of the heat exchanger is made of carbon steel with a 1 inch OD, 14 BWG. The outer pipe is a schedule 40, 1.5 inch nb (nominal bore). Assuming that benzene flows through the annulus and the effective length of the exchanger is 25m, calculate the following a) The heat duty and water flow rate (5 M) b) Heat transfer coefficients in inner and outer tubes and overall coefficient (20M) c) Fouling factor in the tubes, if any (10M) d) Pressure drop in the inner tube and annular section (10M)
