Note - this assignment builds on the Module Six assignment and helps you to prepare your final report in Module Nine.
Jane Joneswill be meeting with the company's Board of Directors, a group of fivepeople who ensure the company is running smoothly. The meeting is in one week and she cannot wait for your long business report (see Module Nine). She needs a short report immediately so that she can prepare an update for the board of directors.
Your task is to prepare a PowerPoint presentationdiscussing the reasons why the company is investigating more flexible work practices, the methodology for determining the most appropriate work practice, and the results of your research to date.
Your PowerPoint presentation should be 6-10 pages. You should utilize the "Notes" section of PowerPoint to address what you wouldactually "say" if you were presenting this report to the Board of Directors.
Assignment Tips:
Read the grading rubric for a more complete idea of the expectations and grading methodology. A short report is usually written in the direct order style, especially if the audience is internal. Direct order style reports state the main point first, then follow with supporting information and end with conclusions/recommendations. An indirect report presents supporting information before stating the main conclusion or recommendation. You may use either style - just be sure you state your primary recommendation.
Short Report Content:
- Purpose Statement: I would like to see some version of a purpose statement at the beginning of the report (presentation). State why you are you giving this report/presentation and remember to use professional language. "My boss made me do this!" is not professional.
- Include a methodology section where you describe the research you have done so farand rationalize your choice of sources.
- Then present your findingsso far(benefits, challenges, evidence of success/failure when other companies have implemented similar policies).
- Finally, let the audience know where you are at so far on this project. Are you ready to give your conclusions and recommendations (i.e. guidelines, policies)? If so, give those. If not, explain how your research is helping you to reach that point.
- Be sure that your audience knows when to expect your final report.
