Now is your chance to get in the game and become a diversified investor! For motivation, check out the slide deck on So you want to make $1 Million Investing on Blackboard. Download an investing Robo Advisor financial app of your choice, open a fully managed investment account and start investing with as little as $5! Why the term Robo Advisor? Its because teams of qualified investment managers build, manage, and oversee a fully automated investment process that invests your money for you. Choices include Acorns, Betterment, Wealthfront and other managed Robo-advisors such as those listed in the following nerdwallet article Be sure to check the minimum investment before your start, some advisers have a $0 or $10 minimum, while others require $500 or more. Check the management fees too, there are a couple apps listed (like SoFi) that charge no fees for their basic account. Robinhood or stock trading apps are NOT an option for this assignment, as they do not build and manage long term investment portfolios for you. Those apps are for trading and speculation on stocks, which is different from investing in diversified index products for long term growth. Assignment Respond to the questions below (1-2 paragraphs) reflecting on the Robo-advisor app you chose. Be sure to include a screenshot of your installed app which displays an account balance. Questions for your write up: What did you learn about investing during the installation/account opening process? What portfolio risk level did you get? Do you understand how you get to that level? Do you think your new investment portfolio is diversified? Why and how? What Mutual funds or ETFs did the Robo-advisor choose for you and what percentage of your funds were allocated to each? What percentage of Stock funds and what percentage of Bond funds did the portfolio allocate? What were your projected returns and estimated future value of balances given your investment amount? Were you surprised? Provide a screen shot here. What insights about investing did you gain from this assignment? What are 3-5 financial terms you came across that were not understood? For example, what is an ETF? Attempt to explain their meaning so it can later help you become a more efficient investor.
