In Good Company

You are the HR Director of a small company. The boss is concerned because according to him every time I turn around, someone is missing work. To address employee absenteeism, he wants to implement a new policy that you dont get paid for the first sick day, only if you miss at least two days. The idea is that people will only take sick days if they are actually sick (and not just take a day off now and then). He tasks you with tracking how well his policy change reduces absenteeism so he can brag on himself to the companys board and hopefully he will get a big bonus this quarter. To keep this scenario realistic, you, of course, wont get anything.

You measure absences of a sample of employees for one month before the policy becomes active, and one month after it becomes active.

Conduct a paired-samples t-test to determine whether the new policy is having its intended effect.

Write your hypotheses, include a results section with the same elements from the results section we did together, and follow up with an appropriate discussion section.
