In this assignment, you will be practicing writing an effective testimony to persuade legislators to adopt your point of view. Remember that a persuasive verbal argument is different from a class essay. Your goal is to change someone's mind rather than simply deliver the facts.

In this assignment, you will be preparing a written testimony on Ohio House Bill 177 Download Ohio House Bill 177, the "Better Access, Better Care" bill. This bill seeks to remove the collaborating physician requirement for nurse practitioners to practice in Ohio, creating full practice authority for independent nurse practitioner practice. You may choose to express either support or opposition to the bill.

Identify whether you are in support of or opposed to this bill. Consider performing a Google search to learn more about organizations that support and oppose this bill and the reasons why. Consider performing a scholarly literature search to locate research that supports your arguments or that may be used by your opponents as counterarguments.

After highlighting what a nurse practitioner is, discussing licensure/certification requirements, highlighting the benefits, and identifying your compelling arguments for or against the bill, you will write a 4 page persuasive paper to the Ohio House Health Committee.Links to an external site.

It may be useful to learn more about the representatives on the committee so that you can tailor your argument to your audience. You will follow APA guidelines (scholarly version), appropriate grammar and spelling, and include at least 3 outside references. Your paper should include a title page, introduction paragraph, conclusion paragraph, and reference page. No abstract is required.
