Obiective: to apply different business ethics perspectives to a business law situation. Factual Scenario: Transportation pollution accounts for approximately 29% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the United States in 2019, with light-duty gasoline vehicles contributing to the majority of this share of GHG emission annually.1 GHG emission is a substantial contributor to overall climate change, which likely will contribute to increased sea levels by 2100. changes in land use and farming production, increases in drought/flood issues, and increases in likely hurricane intensity/frequency. As of 2021, only around 4% of sales (around 17 million vehicles were sold in 2021) of vehicles in the US were electric or hybrid-based passenger vehicles.2 In addition, on average, electric vehicles are approximately $10,000 more expensive to purchase compared to a comparable gas-based vehicle, though some of this increased cost may be offset by the increasing cost of gasoline per gallon (at $3.50 per gallon with an average 30 mpg for gasoline vehicles would result in the annual gasoline cost of $1,750 per year for an average commuter). In 2022, the 2026 target eetwide average full efciency for auto makers was raised to 55 mpg from the current average of 25 mpg. Discuss the business ethical obligations of a traditional car maker (such as a Ford, Chevrolet, or General Motors) with regards to building and selling electric vehicles using a business ethics perspective provided in the assigned reading for the course. Consider in your paper the question: \"Are US automakers ethically obligated to increase electric vehicle production for light-duty passenger vehicle sales in the US?"
