Methods and theory Methods: To investigate the conservation of mechanical energy in a system, we conducted an experiment using the length of a flag and mass of the glider. The experiment consisted of the following steps: 'I. First, we measured the mass of the glider using a scale. 2. Next, we measured the height at which the glider was released using a meter. 3. We then timed the glider using it as it swung back, using a stopwatch. 4. Finally, we used the data collected to calculate the gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy of the glider at different points in its swing. We repeated the experiment 3 or 4 times, each time changing the weight at which the glider was released to investigate how the conservation of energy varies with the height.
