Objective: Create a game app played by one or more people. You may do this project with a partner.

Requirements:

The game app must have at least five (5) of the following from Chapters 9-2, 9-3, & 9-4:

  1. Instructions
  2. Random Numbers (some element of chance)
  3. Timer Control
  4. ToolTip Control
  5. Clipboard
  6. Picture Box Control
  7. MenuStrip control
  8. Horizontal Scroll Bar
  9. Vertical Control Bar
  10. Second Form
  11. Pie Chart
  12. Bar Chart
  13. Animation
  14. Printing a Table
  15. Printing Graphics

In addition, you will receive points based on the difficulty involved in making it work on the computer. EXAMPLES are:

  1. VERY DIFFICULT: The game has two players, one of which may be the computer or another person, and requires strategy in order to win, with perhaps some random elements. Also may have complex rules.
  2. DIFFICULT: A game requiring skill, knowledge, and strategy; perhaps with some element of chance thrown in. Also may have advanced rules
  3. MODERATE: A game of chance and knowledge with moderate rules, but with some element of skill and strategy.
  4. EASY: A game of pure chance, simple rules and some element of knowledge. Something like a quiz game wherein the user is required to answer a question that it has selected through a random choice.
  5. VERY EASY: A game of pure chance and very simple rules. Something like a game wherein the user is required to guess something that computer selected through a random choice.

There are two games in particular that I dont want to see:

  • 3 x 3 Tic-Tac-Toe (BUT a 4 x 4 or bigger grid is acceptable!)
  • Roc-Paper-Scissors (BUT Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock is acceptable!)

You will receive points based on the design of the interface. Factors in that will include:

  1. Spelling (no spelling mistakes)
  2. Graphics (for example, pictures of dice, playing cards, race cars)
  3. An easy to read form (uncluttered, large fonts)
  4. Color scheme (colors that do not interfere with the users ability to read text or see the graphics)
  5. Labels for objects on the form

Finally, you will receive points based on the operation, in other words, whether the app actually works.

Prototyping

I suggest that you use prototyping to develop your system. Start with a simple version of the program that implements one part of the game. Test it, make sure it works, and save a working copy of the project file. Then add a feature to the program and test again. Keep saving working versions.

Warning

As usual, you will need to ZIP (compress) your project folder and submit the zipped file to the Game dropbox in Moodle. If your game app includes a picture or text file, please make sure to copy the file to the /bin/debug subfolder in the project folder. After you copy it there, please check your app to see that it works. Only when you confirm the app works should you ZIP (compress) the project folder and submit it to the Game dropbox in Moodle.

Submission

Submit the ZIPped project folders you created to the dropbox. The name of the .ZIP file should include the names of the group members:

  1. Each name should be last name, first initial (example: DoeJ)
  2. Names should be in alphabetical order (example: ObamaB-TrumpD Game.zip)

Use the submission comments to write down the names of both partners just to be sure I know to whom to give credit.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
