OBRZSD ASSIGNMENT 1: SUMMER 2022 Due on Blackboard by [uly 7, 2022 End of Day Research shows that people pay attention to several aspects of their work environment, including how they are treated, the relationships they form with colleagues and managers, and the actual work they perform. When the workplace and job characteristics embrace the factors in Figure 4.2 below [Chapter 4], job satisfaction and organizational engagement are likely to increase. However, it is never easy to include all of these factors in one workplace or iob. *|-| murmmmngmmmmwmmrcmmm Your assignment includes the following requirements: 1. Tips for evaluating the quality of information you nd on the internet can be found on page 13 of your text. It should not exceed 1500 words. Please post your assignment on Blackboard in the appropriate Assignment section by July '7 (end-of- day]. Two marks will be deducted for each late day posted. Grading Rubric: Factor selection and application to work environment above: 2 marks per factor [6 marks) Research summaries: 1 mark per summary [3 marks] Citations: 3 marks Overall quality of work: 3 marks TOTAL: 15 You work for the human resources department of a large auto assembly plant that employs approximately 5,000 workers. The plant runs 24/? with three 3-hour shifts per day. The work can be very strenuous and stressful. Although there are many positions within the plant that are less physically demanding, they still entail a fast pace of work, leaving little time for socialization or personal activities. Employees are required to work all three shifts on a rotating basis, often disrupting family life. While hourly pay and health benets are slightly above industry standards, workers have been increasingly complaining about the routine and repetitive nature of the work, the physical and emotional stress while working, and the negative impact rotating shifts have on achieving a positive work-life balance. Talk of unionization and the need for better work conditions is being openly discussed and has resulted in some questionable rings by management, creating increased friction and poor worker-management relations. Not everyone is suited to this type of work, and human resources are routinely criticized for not screening job applicants properly to ensure a better person-environment t. A recent survey among workers indicated that as many as half of the workforce are dissatised with their job, and one-third would quit if they found work that would at least match compensations and benets. Fearing mass resignations and possible unionization, you have been asked for recommendations to improve job satisfaction and worker happiness. You have been asked to select three of the factors in the gure above and recommend how they can each be developed in a manufacturing setting of the company so that employees may eventually report higher rates of job satisfaction. Each of your three recommendations should be supported by an expert opinion
