Officer Atencione was patrolling Main Street when he saw a vehicle making an illegal left-hand turn at an intersection. Officer Atencione followed the car into a residential neighborhood and observed the driver, Nellie, park her car on the street and subsequently enter her residence. After ten minutes, Nellie left the house. As she was reentering her car, Officer Atencione approached and asked to see Nellie's driver's license. She complied. Officer Atencione ran a computer check, which indicated that Nellie's driving record was clear. He nonetheless decided to place her under arrest for violating the "no left turn" law. Nellie was handcuffed, placed in the back seat of the patrol car and transported to the police station. Nellie's claim that her warrantless arrest was unconstitutional will prevail?

Betty Sharp calls the police when she sees a man climbing through a ground floor window in a house across the street. Officer Dinkley, working the night shift, was patrolling Beacon Street in the vicinity of Ted's, an electronics store that had been burglarized twice in the past week. On both occasions, the burglars stole laptop computers after gaining entry by shattering a heavy, plate-glass window near the stores' rear entrance with a blast from a firearm. When Officer Dinkley drove through the downtown area at 2:00am, there was very little activity, since all stores had closed hours earlier and there were no residential units within a mile in any direction. She was surprised to come upon a man and a woman pushing a baby carriage in the otherwise desolate area. The carriage had a storage area below the basket in which a baby would be placed, and this section of the carriage was obscured by a dark cloth wrapped around it.

Officer Dinkley approached the couple on foot, asking what they were doing in this area at such a late hour. The couple did not want to engage in conversation, explaining that they needed to go home, since the baby was out well past his bedtime. Asked where they lived, the couple provided an address more than a mile away from their present location and nervously commented that they had wanted the baby to "get some fresh air".

As the couple began to move away from Officer Dinkley, she ordered them to halt. When she reached them, Officer Dinkley looked into the carriage and noticed a dark, sharp-edged object protruding from underneath the baby blanket. She also noticed what appeared to be a bulge beneath the male's sweater at his waist. Convinced that the two were responsible for the burglaries, Officer Dinkley frisked the male. Feeling a sharp object at his waist, she lifted up his sweater and found a screwdriver lodged in his waistband. Officer Dinkley seized it. Testing later revealed that it had been used to pry open locked areas inside the store.

The stop, frisk and seizure of the screwdriver were all constitutional under the Fourth Amendment?
