  2. You are free to form a team of 6 to 8 students to work on the FGP Final Group Project Warehouse Layout and Design.
  1. This Proposal should be filled in and submitted (full document total 3 pages in MS Word format) by the Team Leader via email before week 9 class starts by using Subject Line:

MGMT5006(51A) FGP Proposal

with the following criteria:

  1. Warehouse floor area size (not more than 50,000 and not less than 5,000 square feet) with ceiling height (no limit to the ceiling height).
  2. Type or category of product to be storage

Hints: small consumable product smaller storage area, but more warehouse functions and VAS or non-storage facilities; large/bulky items/machines larger storage area, but less VAS or non-storage facilities.

Requirements:

  1. The general layout of a warehouse facility must cover (but not limited to) all these needs:
    1. Making the most of the available space
    2. Reducing the handling of goods to a minimum
    3. Providing easy access to the stored inventory
    4. Having the highest turnover ratio possible (maximized SKUs, minimized space)
    5. Offering maximum flexibility in the positioning of products
    6. Considering all warehouse functions other than storage
    7. Customer service and employee concern
    8. Safety and Security concern
