Directions: As a team, we need to choose a sport that is currently NOT played in either the Winter of Summer Olympics (go to Olympic.org and choose the second tab "Sports". That has an up to date list of both winter and summer games).  Explain how to do some research on this sport, market this sport to current athletes and future athletes, interpret costs associate with the sport, incorporate endorsements and product tie-ins. Follow the steps below to begin.

Part 1:  Choosing your sport & Debut country and year

  1. Choose which sport you are going to add into the Olympic Games (Here are some suggestions but you are limited only o your imagination: Olympic Haircutting, Fowling (bird hunting), Feather Bowling, Pickle Ball, Ax Throwing, Bow Fishing, Diaper Changing, Food Preparation, Beer Pong, Hole-E-Board etc.)
  2. Include a picture of the sport.
  3. Choose whether this sport will be played in the winter or summer games.
  4. Will this sport be played by females, males, or BOTH?  Why?
  5. Choose which specific Olympic Game this sport will makes its debut (list of Host Countries and Year are listed on the first tab on Olympic.org). Example:   Los Angeles, USA, 2028
  6. Explain WHY you are choosing this location and year (consider whether or not you will have enough time to incorporate the field/area that will be used, recruiting athletes and sponsorships/endorsements).

Part 2:  Sport information, Market Research, Target Markets, Key Players

  1. What are the general "rules" of your game?
  2. How does a team win?
  3. How many referees/judges will be needed for a game?
  4. What countries currently play this game (list AT LEAST 5)?
  5. What countries are NOT currently playing this game but through marketing campaigns you feel would be interested in starting in their country (think small- this could be at the "kid" level) (List at least 5)?

If you have chosen a sport in which both male and females compete, decide on which you want to focus your research on for the next potion - Either male OR female, not both -unless you want more work J

  1. Who are the top 5 key MALE/FEMALE players in this sport that can help you market your sport?

Part 3:  Costs

What physical costs would be associated with bringing this new sport to the Olympics? Think equipment used, stadium, field, etc.

  1. In your opinion, what would be the 5 most expensive items associated with implementing and playing this sport during the Olympics?

Part 4:  Endorsement

Pick 1 of your 5 American Key Players

  1. Choose a company/product that you feel would be a great fit for this athlete to endorse.
  2. Explain WHY you feel this company/product would be a great fit.
  3. Does this company have any other athletes that endorse this company/product?  If so- who(m)?

Part 5:  Risk Management

  1. List 5 risks that could occur during/before/after the game.
  2. Explain how you would mitigate each of those risks.

Part 6:  Product Tie-Ins

What 5 product Tie-Ins would you have to increase the knowledge of this new sport?

  1. List the 5 products you would tie-in your sport to.
  2. Include a picture of the 5 products.

Part 7:  Your Pitch to the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

You have 3-5 minutes to pitch your idea to the IOC.  Why should they bring in this new sport to the Olympics?  Who will be affected?  What are the advantages of adding it to the Olympics?  Persuade the committee with 3-5 key points.
