On 1 August 2021, John booked a two-week holiday worth RM30,000 in Bali. He wanted to go with his wife and their 2 sons. He booked the trip through Idyllic Travel in Seremban to stay at XYZ Hotel in Bali. He agreed to pay the deposit of RM7500 at a later date. The booking of the holiday was 1 September 2021 but when they returned home with all the holiday documents, John received a telephone call from his boss wanting him to travel to Singapore on 7 September 2021 to attend a 3-day company meeting. Agonised by that request that he will miss the holiday, nevertheless, he went to Idyllic the next day to have the holiday changed without any costs. He failed in the negotiation and was told that he was not allowed to change the date. a) Discuss whether the amount of deposit Idyllic Travel is allowed to collect and the deadline for John to pay. (15 marks) B) The facts/scenario for this part of the question is found in Question 1(a) above. Advise John whether he would be able to have the holiday changed without any costs. (20 marks)
