On 22^ndFebruary, Josephine decides to sell her collection of plates which was given to her by her grandmother. She places an advertisement in the Guardian Newspaper, 'Antique plates for Sale $1000 or nearest offer.' She includes her telephone number and email address in the advertisement. On 25^thFebruaryAmanda emails saying, 'I will buy the plates for $700.' Josephine replies saying, 'I will take $750 but please let me know by 5pm today as another customer is calling to see the plates tomorrow.'

Amanda immediately emails back asking if Josephine will accept payment by cheque. By 4.30pm she has not heard from Josephine so sends a further email to say she will buy the plates for $750 cash. Josephine's internet connection is lost that afternoon and Josephine does not get this email until it is reconnected on 28^thFebruary. The plates are sold to Chad on the 26^thFebruary
