On 6 October 2020, Shila, a school teacher ordered 10 shawls from a website "Suri Shawl Expert" via a Whatsapp Message right after she saw its advertisement on the website. After receiving an acceptance message from the owner of the website, Suri, Shila paid the price amounting to RM500 via electronic fund transfer.
Suri notified Shila that the shawl would reach her in seven (7) days from the date of payment. However, the shawls had only reached Shila via post two (2) weeks after the payment was made. Furthermore, the shawls delivered to her were not according to the specifications stated in the advertisement on the website. The advertisement stated that the shawls are made of high quality cotton material and 2 meters long with seven colours option. None of specifications met except the colour option.
The sent shawls were of cotton Lycra material and 1.4 meters long only. In the light of the Sale of Goods Act 1957 and the relevant decided case law, advise Shila. State also the effect of the above contract from the Islamic perspective of al-Bay.
