On an industrial scale, cyclohexane is produced by reacting benzene with hydrogen. Due to its unique chemical and conformational properties, cyclohexane is mainly used as a standard during analysis in laboratories. In one chemical process, a stream of cyclohexane vapor at 150C and 25atm enters a continuous condenser at a flow rate of 100Ls. The product exits the condenser unit at 6.7C and 1atm in the form of liquid and crystal mixture. The cyclohexane vapor enters the condenser from the top while the product mixture exits at the bottom before entering a separation unit. The size of the condenser used is 1.5 meters (internal diameter)3 meters (height).
a) Draw and completely label the flow diagram of the process.
b) Calculate the amount of heat that is produced by the process. You must clearly show the hypothetical path you construct to solve this problem and give the enthalpy changes for each step. State any assumption made in your calculation.
C) Explain how your calculations in part (b) will change if the pressure of the inlet cyclohexane vapor is 5atm instead?
