On April 16, 1963, Dr. King penned his now famous "Letter from Birmingham Jail". Dr. King wrote eloquently of the injustices faced by African- Americans. Dr. King's convictions were based on "Natural Law" (an ethical theory we studied earlier in the quarter). If you choose to participate in this extra credit assignment, please do the following: (1) Read Dr. King's Letter from Birmingham Jail: Letter from Birmingham Jail (2) If you believe that Dr. King's understanding of Natural Law is still effective in combatting racism, explain why. (3) If you disagree with Dr. King's use of Natural Law, explain which ethical theory you believe will have the most success in combatting racism. NOTE: Whether you agree or disagree with Dr. King's use of natural law, make sure you demonstrate that you thoroughly read the "Letter from Birmingham Jail".
