On May 23, 2024, the United States Department of Justice filed an Antitrust suit against Ticketmaster and its parent company, Live Nation, claiming a monopoly in their industry. While many have cited this as a win for Taylor Swift and her fans, I would not be an avid Pearl Jam fan if I didn't point out an original Department of Justice complaint filed by Pearl Jam following Ticketmaster's additional fees in 1994!

With all of this talk of antitrust and monopolies, let's use this discussion to research this case, what laws are the basis for this finding, and what actions might be next for LiveNation and Ticketmaster.
