On New Year's Eve $2004$ bouncers at a New Orleans bar killed Levon Jones, a student at Georgia Southern University, by causing him to suffocate while holding him in a headlock and sitting on him. His death followed an altercation where Mr$.$ Jones was asked to leave the bar because his clothes didn't meet the dress code. Mr$.$ Jones, who was Black, was wearing roughly the same kind of clothes as a white friend who was also in the bar and who was not asked to leave. Fearing racism, a study conducted by the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center had two men enter bars in the New Orleans' French Quarter. Both wore the same clothes, in same fashion $($E$.$g$.$ shirt un$-$ tucked$),$ had the same body type, and ordered the same kinds of drinks in every bar. The only difference between the two was that one man was Black and the other was white and found overt discrimination. Now, nearly $20$ years later, the study has recently been repeated.
