On September 2, 2019 Femi, received a text message from a girl, Amara, who mentioned that she had received his number from a friend. Femi did not know this girl and through their chat, he asked Amara how old she was. She replied that she was 22 years old when in fact she was 13. Both Femi and Amara corresponded for a couple weeks by both telephone and text messaging, after which Femi drove to her home. Amara explained that her parents lived with her temporarily because their home had fire damage. After their second date, both Amara and Femi had consensual sex his Femi's vehicle. A few day later Amara was uneasy about the future of their relationship and told Femi that she did not want to see him anymore. Enraged with Amara's quick change of heart, Femi believed that she was seeing someone else. He began following her around for the next couple week. On October 13, 2019 Femi devised a plan to take Amara to spot that he had wanted to share with her when they first began speaking. Later than evening he found Amara walking alone near her home. He pulled his vehicle over and forced her into the vehicle and then drove her to the spot he wanted to show her.
