On the discussion board, we will be discussing the a questions modified from Discussion Question #3, found at the Discussion Questions section of Chapter 12 (Page 517): Canon, a Japanese manufacturer of photographic equipment, decided against offshoring and kept its manufacturing and new product development processes in Japan, which has relatively high labor costs. In contrast, GM, headquartered in the United States, has a joint venture with Shanghai Auto Industry Corporation (SAIC) to produce cars in China. Please find an organization that take's Cannon's approach, and another organization that takes GM's approach. Given our discussion of outsourcing, offshoring, next-shoring, and supply chain design, discuss how these two seemingly diverse decisions could be supportive of each organization's operations strategy. These two organizations could be from the same or different industries. They could be your employers, other organizations in this area, or any other organizations. If you use online sources, please also provide a link to those sources, so your classmates can have a better understanding of your thoughts and information.
