On the internet, domain names (like ebay.com, weather.com, or tripadvisor.com) are a limited resource: only one person or group can register each one. Short domain names are quite desired, and few Canadian domains consisting of three letters remain available for new registration. (For example, smu.ca and abc.ca are already registered.) There are more than 17,000 possible three letter Canadian domain names, and a scientist wanted to estimate the proportion of three letter domain names still available for registration using a confidence interval.
