On the job, you will face many dilemmas, and you will want to react ethically. Determining the right thing to do, however, is not always an easy task. Review the scenario below and then, in a discussion post, answer the questions that follow. Imagine that Josh in the accounting department tells you he heard from a reliable source that 15 percent of the company staff will be fired within the next 120 days. You have also accidentally been copied on an email from your supervisor with the names of three employees that your department is considering letting go in the next month. One of those three is a good friend of yours. You are worried about your own job and the other cuts that are being made in your department. You head to the restroom and see a group of people huddled in a corner talking about the coming changes. You know something that this group doesn't know. What are the ethical issues you need to consider in a situation such as this? How might you handle this situation? Who should you talk with? What information should you share? Do you have the obligation to warn your friend and co-worker about the email you accidentally received? Would you want your friend to warn you if the situation were reversed?
