On the skin, chemical sensitivities can be identified through the use of a patch test. In order to accomplish this goal, patch tests, in which an allergen derived from a possible chemical is administered directly to the skin, are utilized. After a period of two hours, the patient peels off the test patch and examines it under a microscope to look for any signs of an allergic reaction.
