One afternoon after physics class, Kadia and Jed decide to go ice skating. As they are putting on their skates, they watch a man skate by and reach out and pick up his small son, who was momentarily stationary on the ice. Kadia remarked that the two skaters reminded her of class, because their teacher had just started talking about inelastic collisions. Jed suggested they try using the simulation to explore just what happens during an inelastic collision. In an inelastic collision, the colliding particles stick to each other after the collision. In this simulation, Kadia and Jed can change the initial velocities of both balls, as well as their masses, and then click "start" to see the subsequent motion. The final velocity is shown. Note that the two balls are considered point particles, and make up an isolated system
