One day Tristan decides he has just the plan to win the heart of his beloved Victoria. He spends the day securing everything he needs to put his plan into action. That night he goes to Victoria's house to take her on a picnic by moonlight.

After they have eaten and drank most of the Champaign, Victoria lets it slip that she has agreed to marry Humphrey because she has secretly learned he is making a special trip to buy an engagement ring. She also explains her reasoning is the Humphrey is a wealthy gentleman and Tristan just works in a store.Tristan than tries in vain to prove his love to her.During his speech, a shooting star races across the sky much to Victoria's delight. This gives Tristan an idea.

Tristan then promises to find where the star landed and bring a piece back to her as an engagement present if she will agree to marry him.Victoria gives him a time limit of two weeks to return and if he returns on time with the star, she will marry him.

Here is a short scene from the movie at the end of the picnic and the making of the deal for the "star".
