One example of how Maslow's theory has been successfully applied in a workplace setting is how, as a manager, leading by example, showing employees their worth, and motivating associates to accept higher positions, made/makes employees feel satisfied with their jobs and have a sense of belonging. For example, while filling in for another manager at a lower volume store, I observed a part-time associate that was having a not so good day with customer service.
