One of the topics we covered this week is leadership and motivation. There are certain traits needed to motivate employees and subordinates, but it is also beneficial to think about what types of personality traits are commonly found with those that we consider good leaders. Chapter 4 of your textbook discusses the Big 5 personality traits that have been used to predict emergent leaders. For this discussion, begin with the characteristics that you commonly associate with leadership. Then in answering the following questions, think about which of the Big Five characteristics you possess, its benefit in leadership, and an example of a leader who also has these same characteristics. Which of the Big 5 personality traits do you think you have and why? How do you think this personality trait will help you as a leader? Name at least one current leader who has this same trait and how it has been either positively or negatively impacted their leadership.
