Question
One of the ways we learn about the world of Project Management is to look at examples of other projects, and how they've been managed.
One of the ways we learn about the world of Project Management is to look at examples of other projects, and how they've been managed.
For this assignment, the goal is to learn about a previous, or current, project that's of interest to you.
Conduct a search for a project that interests you. You can find projects in the Mohawk Library, your local library, in the news, or through many of the online sources available.
For the project you've chosen:
- Summarize the project.
- How does this particular initiative fit the definition of a project?
- In your opinion, for this specific project, which element of the Triple Constraint is the most crucial? Explain why you chose that Constraint.
- In your opinion, for this specific project which element of the Triple Constraint is the least important? Explain why you chose that Constraint.
- Do you believe the project was successful? If the project is still in progress, do you believe it will be successful?
- If you believe it is (or will be) successful, explain how you define success for the selected project. Describe the specific actions/decisions you believe the Project Manager took to set it up for success.
- If you believe it was not (or will not be) successful, explain how it did not meet your definition of success for the selected project. Describe the specific actions/decisions you believe the Project Manager took which resulted (or is leading to it) not being successful.
Include a link to the article or sources that you are basing your research on, and be sure to cite your work in your response. Please note that no marks are awarded for including this information, but 25 marks will be deducted if it is omitted.
Your research should focus on a real project that has occurred or that is currently being executed. Your research should not be focused on a "How to" article. For example an article or online column on the steps involved in planning a party is not acceptable.
As always, this must be your own work, and any material referenced must be correctly cited.
In addition:
Being a great Project Manager means working with others. Sometimes, certain people on a project team (or in any group) contribute more, or have a greater impact on the work that gets done. Using this link: Peer FeedbackLinks to an external site., answer one simple question about those on your team for this assignment - the question is simple: "How much would you like to work with this person on another assignment/project?".
