One thing that the ESSA does is it gives States more control over education without federal government over sight. However my one thought is if the federal government can give up this control while also fulfilling the Departmentof Education'sgoal or preparingstudents for a global market? If states havethe control then there are going to be 50 different standards that States are setting. Meaning a student in Nebraska could be more advanced than a student in New Hampshire. (this not a comment on any State's education standards just a hypothetical example.)

If students are being prepared at different standardsthat will mean that some students are achieving the levels needed to compete in a global market and others are not. Should the federal government havemore control so that we can make sure the nations students are all equally prepared to compete in a global market? What do you think?
