One topic that I found particularly enlightening in the chapters on international trade alliances was the concept of cultural intelligence (CQ) and its importance in cross-cultural management. Before reading these chapters, I had no idea about the significant impact that cultural intelligence can have on successful international business relationships. According to Daft and Marcic (2013), cultural intelligence is defined as "the ability to adapt to new cultures and work effectively in situations characterized by cultural diversity." This goes beyond being aware of different customs and traditions; it also involves understanding the underlying values, beliefs, and communication styles of individuals from other cultures. I found it fascinating to learn how having a high level of cultural intelligence can lead to better teamwork, decision-making, and overall performance within international trade alliances. It requires empathy, open-mindedness, and the ability to navigate complex intercultural interactions with sensitivity and respect
