One type of argument is that it is cruel and unusual punishment in how it is applied. Lethal injection may not be painless, so the argument is that it is now cruel and unusual. If that is the case, then would a quicker way be more acceptable? What about the old fashion guillotine and cutting off a head? This may be least painful method. Does the method matter? Is it crueler to have life in prison without possibility of parole?
