The extreme ends are outliers - so far out of the norm maybe only 1% fall there. It is an interesting statistical fact that most things we study, if we sample enough tend to form this normal distribution. So interestingly, if we surveyed students about the difficulty of all their classes on a scale of 1 to 10, with ten being most difficult we would see the average or peek of all classes perhaps at around number 5.
