onsider the gas phase dehydrogenation of butylene to butadiene on supported Pt catalyst. The verall reaction is given by Butylene (B)k Butadiene (BD)+H2(H). It has been perimentally proved that the rate of consumption of butylene during dehydrogenation is consistent ith the rate expression given by, rB=(1+KBpB+KBDpBD)kpB. Where, pBD and pB are partial essures of butadiene and butane respectively. And, k,KBD,KB are rate of constant for the surface action, adsorption equilibrium constant of butadiene and adsorption equilibrium constant of itane. It is understood that, the surface reaction is rate-limiting for the dehydrogenation of butylene. Propose a reaction mechanism for the dehydrogenation of butylene that is consistent with experimentally observed rate of reaction. [10 Marks] [CO01][BTL4]
