Open the first data set. The population of interest was high school age players who played for teams in the 2019 St. Louis Youth Soccer Association, prior to the pandemic.The researcher was interested in investigating two variables (1) the players' self-rating on Competition Anxiety and (2) the players' Coaches' Rating of How Well an Athlete Performs under Pressure. The researcherrandomly selected 16 players and collected data on the two variables mentioned above.

The researcher asked the 16 players' coaches to rate them on how well they performed under pressure using a 10-point scale where a 10 stood for performing well and a 1 stood for performing poorly. In a study of Seattle area youth soccer players, the average rating was 8.0. The researcher wanted to know whether the St. Louis area players were higher or lower than 8.0.
