opinion of this In my organization, I observe progress on both ends of the climate. I observe a varied attitude toward leadership in my fellow teachers; for my part, I tend to shut down or avoid behaviors that would encourage negative morale and choose to focus on what would best serve our students. By making this conscious choice in my attitude and behavior intentions (Black & Bright, 2019), I have noticed and aligned myself with colleagues who have the same focus. I've realized that those with a "bad attitude" always have something to complain about, while others who focus on students just need to vent a little bit once in a while. I've also noticed that those who complain are fewer and farther between that I initially realized. Regarding leadership, our principals will often "think out loud" for us as we deal with complex problems; in doing so, all involved develop a deeper understanding of the problems and we are better able to reach a consensual agreement. For these reasons, I would say our building climate is positive and most workers and leaders are motivated by a common goal: to serve our students the best we can while we have them. citations
