The American Colonists, both free and unfree, were quite rational and worked hard at ordering their personal lives and the world around them. In the Primary Sources we see a variety of ways that individuals set about organizing their own existence. What evidence do we find in the journals, diaries, and manifestos of these people of their values, priorities, and ambitions? How do they resemble one another? How do they differ?
