organization be aligned with the business strategy and mission . What strategies do you think can be helpful to ensure that a project is executed in alignment with the business strategy ? Thanks Response : Hi Dr. Mirhadi, The Williams Machine Tool Company focused on a product that customers would conform to instead of planning for growth and the future . Future growth and revenue are dependent on new products and this requires the organization to shift to a product -driven organization . The traditional structure promotes a single project management practice that continuously reinforces the top -down approach that denies any value creation for project management (Thiry , 2007 ). With the creation of a PMO , the organization would be able to update and /or develop a flexible or informal PM methodology (Kerzner , 2017 ). The PMO would establish standardization in processes and procedures as well as support the effective and efficient execution of the organization's strategic goals (Spalek, Kuhn, & Dayton, 2016). A PMO prioritizes the strategic projects and fosters an environment where departments work cohesively as a functional organization (Thiry, 2007). The structural change for the Williams Machine Tool Company y would be a more integrated approach where projects and programs are directly linked to governance and strategy (Thiry ).
