1. Choose 2 topics that you would like to research and ask at least 20 of your friends and family for that information (one topic should involve numbers). Topic ideas: How many bottles of water do you drink per day? and Do you have a printer at home?, what kind of printer?
2. Choose 2 ways to display your data, each set of data needs 2 different types of displays.
Options: dot plot, stem-and-leaf plot, histogram, bar graph, line graph, pie chart or pictograph.
3. Make a list of all things you notice from each plot, graph or chart.
4. Find the range, mean, median and mode of each and explain what each tells you about your data set and what you can infer from that information. Show and/or explain how you found them and what that means.
5. Which forms of graphing and forms of central tendency gave you the most information? Why?
