Other than those experiencing alexithymia, there is no question that emotions are expressed in one form or the other. At times, emotions are expressed in a positive manner, while at other times, emotions are displayed negatively. The Goleman text (Chapter 8) discusses what display rules are as well as the basic three different kinds.
