Exercise 9 Engaging Employees In the previous Exercise you and your team members implemented some initiatives to improve employee motivation. As you have done more research on how to build positive relationships with your employees you became aware of a more robust approach used by many organizations to achieve very high levels of both productivity AND employee satisfaction. This approach is called "Employee Engagement" and goes beyond simply "motivating" employees. Achieving this level of relationship has significant benefits both for the organization and the employees. It is a WinWin approach! Individual Activity for Exercise 9 Your task is to find out more about "Employee Engagement" and what organizations are doing to achieve high levels of engagement. McKinsey research has found that organizations that are successful at engaging employees enjoy much better performance than their peers who have not been successful in doing this. So, it is worth the effort to learn more about employee engagement and consider adopting this approach for your business. On the next page, describe and define what employee engagement is, what the benefits are to the organization and employees of pursuing employee engagement, and how it differs from employee motivation.
