Leaders need to know what makes communication effective, especially when ethical issues are at stake.
The challenge is not simply how to communicate, but how to communicate from an ethical perspective. Makau (2012) provides good insight into the concept of ethical communication. "All communication . . . occurs within a context, including goals, means, and occasion. Ethical communication requires understanding of and responsiveness to each of these three key elements" (p. 2).
