Overview: critically analyze readings that you encounter in your personal/professional life. These readings can be from newspapers, magazines, journals, trade publications, etc.

While the topics you select are your choice, the articles you select should be of serious content and depth - please use your best judgment. You will likely have to read many articles until you find one that will be sufficient for the assignment.

As I want you to explore and research media on your own, analysis of articles from your textbook will not be accepted.

A link to the article or a copy of the article must be provided.

Each analysis should answer the following:

CLAIM: What are the main points or arguments the author(s) make in the article? What are the key conclusions the author(s) make?

EVIDENCE: What evidence or information is given to support the points or arguments?

RELIABILITY: What is the source of information or evidence? Does the evidence have an identified source (for example, a specific person, organization, publication, website, journal, or book)? If authorities are cited, what credentials do they have? Do you think the source is credible?

PERSUASIVENESS: Is the argument convincing? Explain why or why not. Is there another way to interpret the evidence? If there is insufficient evidence for you to judge the argument, what specific evidence would be needed for you to judge the validity of the claim?
