Overview : Proposed topic Sensory Marketing
This project aims to equip candidates with the required knowledge and skills for conducting a scientific research in the area of business. Candidates should find a research topic, identify a research problem, and provide recommendations based on an empirical study. The outline of the project is discussed in details in the next points:
Introduction
The candidates are expected to give an introduction about the chosen topic and its related background. Background or introduction section provides a description of the basic facts and importance of the research area - What is your research area, the motivation of research, and how important is it for the industry practice/knowledge advancement?
Problem statement:
Problem statement provides a clear and concise description of the issues that need to be addressed - What is the specific problem in that research area that you will address (e.g. lack of understanding of a subject, low performance of organizations ...)?
Objectives and research questions:
Objectives provide a list of goals that will be achieved through the proposed research - What are the benefits/impact (e.g. better understanding, improved productivity ...) that will be generated if the research problem is answered? This part should cover the research questions in order to address the issues of concern in the research.
Literature review:
Provide a summary of previous related research on the research problem and their strength and weakness and a justification of your research - What is known/what have been done by others? And, why your research is still necessary?
Conceptual model and proposed hypotheses:
This part should introduce the proposed research model and hypotheses. They should identify clearly the nature of the variables (i.e. dependent variables, independent variables, moderating, mediating, etc.).
Methodology and research design:
Research methodology defines the research methods and logic steps - how to solve the problem and achieve proposed objectives? Which research methods (e.g. survey, interview, case study ...) will be used? It should also discuss the design of the research; type of investigation, time horizon, degree of interference of the researcher.
Data Collection and Sampling:
Candidates should decide on the sample size, sampling techniques, sampling frame and sampling unit while justifying their choices. Data collection can be conducted through online questionnaires using one of the online platforms, e.g. survey monkey.
Data Analysis and Findings:
Candidates should use a data analysis software (e.g. SPSS) to analyse the collected data and report the findings with elaboration. Different analysis techniques can be used to test the hypotheses including correlation, regression, frequencies, or any other tests necessary depending on the collected data.
Discussion, managerial implications and conclusion:
Candidates should discuss their research findings. They should indicate how organizations can benefit from their findings.
References:
A list of references used in the study should be provided. Candidates should make sure that the in text referencing matches the list of references that is provided.Candidates should follow the Harvard referencing style in their project.
